During this engaging 2 day course, students will learn the anatomy and physiology of a postpartum body and practice therapeutic massage techniques and sequences to address common postpartum concerns. Massage during the postpartum period can greatly improve healing and recovery time and ease the transition into parenthood. Students will learn many basic treatments including sequences for addressing pain/tension due to breastfeeding, relieving engorgement, reducing postpartum swelling, deep visceral (abdominal) massage including fundal massage, and working with postpartum C-sections. Students will also learn about additional postpartum practices (like belly binding), support (community resources, and when to refer to Physical Therapists, Postpartum Doulas etc.), and marketing. Students will practice and receive sequences with a partner.
